Wayne Hinkley Named as New Head
Coach for WS
Wayne Hinkley has
agreed to become the head coach for Schreiner
University's Women's Soccer program. He will
officially begin in that capacity in early January.
For the past 2-1/2 years, Hinkley has been the head
coach for the Boerne (TX) High School Girls Soccer
team. During his tenure, he has built the Boerne Greyhounds
into a state championship contender.
His two year record is 23-13-3 (17-6-3 in the
district) and his 2006 team was Bi-District champions and an
Area Finalist in Region IV of the Texas 4A State
High School Championships. He was one of
only three coaches (out of 120) to be nominated
for Region IV Coach of the Year.
Prior to being named as the Greyhounds' coach,
Hinkley built the Bandera (TX) High School Girls
Soccer team from the ground up during his two
years as head coach and turned it into a solid,
successful program.
Hinkley has 30 years of playing and
coaching experience. He started out on an athletic scholarship
at NCAA Division II Florida Southern. A major
injury prematurely shortened his freshman season
and career. Once his injury had
sufficiently healed, he turned his talents to
the semi-pro level and eventually had a brief
career with the Detroit Rockers of the NPSL.
During that time, he again suffered major
injuries while on the pitch and his playing
career was effectively ended.
He returned to college and attended Schreiner
from 2000-03 where he was a standout student and
earned his bachelors degree in History in 2003.
He has nearly completed coursework for his
Masters degree. In 2007, he earned his
NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He is
married to Sheridan Sloan, (owner of Pipe Creek
Animal Hospital) and they have a son,
Bryce. Wayne, Sheridan and Bryce live in
Pipe Creek. |
