The Schreiner Women's Soccer team was 30 minutes
away from new head coach Wayne Hinkley's first
collegiate win, but Concordia rallied for a 3-1 win
in Austin.
After a scoreless first hal of action, sophomore
Danni Gomez scored her first goal of the season just
seconds into the second half to give the visiting
Mountaineers a 1-0 lead. Schreiner maintained
that slim margin for the next 15 minutes. With
30 minutes left in regulation, CTX's Kiera Ruck
scored the answering goal to even the match.
Ten minutes later, the Tornados (4-6-2, 3-4 in ASC)
scored the go-ahead goal on sophomore goalkeeper
Jenn Gamez.
Hinkley made a defensive change, inserting freshman
Stephanie Hoskins in goal, but Concordia again
tallied an insurance goal shortly thereafter.
Once again, the injury-depleted Mountaineers were
left without position subs as a host of players sat
on the bench in street clothes. Hill had seven
saves in the match. Gomez had five shots and
sophomore Natalie White four in the loss.
