Mountaineers
Put in Game Effort, Fall to Ozarks 1-0

ahead on Saturday vs. Ozarks.
Ozarks escaped Kerrville with a 1-0 win over an
improving Schreiner Women's Soccer team. The
Mountaineers are finally starting to get a bit
healthier and their play is taking a corresponding
jump that nearly caught the visitors. When
Ozarks' Marisa Maldonado scored 17 minutes into the
match on Saturday, SU fans were looking to see how
the team would handle the deficit after a long
season. The Mountaineers responded well but
just couldn't get the tying goal and had to settle
for a 1-0 loss to Ozarks (6-9, 4-5 in ASC).
SU freshman goalkeeper Mindy Mauldin recorded five
saves as the Schreiner defense proved stingy but the
Mountaineers (0-13, 0-9 in ASC) could only manage
one shot. Still, it was a second straight
positive performance. With only one senior and
a roster of mostly freshmen and sophomores, the
Mountaineers look to be back on the road to
improvement.
