Mountaineers Settle for Tie
KERRVILLE, TX - The Schreiner
Women's Soccer Team dominated
the ball in Louisiana College's
half of the field for all 110
minutes of the double-overtime
game, but had to settle for a
0-0 tie.
SU
had several great opportunities
early by Taylore Davis and
Amanda Moon whose shots barely
missed or hit the crossbar.
About half-way through the first
half, SU's only senior, Kathryn
Fondon ("Peanut") made her
presence felt when an LC player
was red-carded. SU was
then up 11 players to LC's 10.
The rest of the game LC was on
their heals as SU continually
hit the ball into the box for
opportunities to score. SU
out-shot LC 33-4 on the game,
but LC goalkeeper Emily Breaux
repeatly kept the Mountaineer
shots out of the net. SU's
Rebecca Chiaro and Dani Gomez
also had several shot
opportunities but were unable to
convert.
This game was Schreiner's last
home game of the season.
They will now head to Abilene to
take on Hardin Simmons and
McMurry to finish out their
season.
