Hardin-Simmons Gets Lopsided Win over Schreiner

ABILENE, TX - Top-ranked Hardin-Simmons scored a lopsided win over visiting Schreiner, 10-0, in Abilene.  Once again, SU started slowly and against 17th-ranked (nationally) HSU, it was a recipe for a long day.  The Cowgirls (11-0 in ASC, 15-1 overall) got two goals in the first three minutes and led 3-0 at halftime.  In the second half, HSU scored consistently in the one-sided contest.  The 10 goals given up is nearly half the total that SU had given up all year long.  Through 15 matches, SU had only allowed 22 goals but the Cowgirls were able to take advantage of a depleted Schreiner lineup.

Senior Kathryn Fondon had SU's only shot of the match and freshman goalkeeper Genevieve Monroe stopped 17 shots out of the 27 she faced.

Schreiner (2-11-3, 0-9-3 in ASC) closes it's 2009 season tomorrow in a match at McMurry.  Start time is 1:00 pm in Abilene.
