Freshman
Katrina Priess won the singles draw in her first collegiate
tournament, the Kerrville/Dr. Pepper Adult Open. She
raced through the field and faced SU senior teammate Patty
Santiago in the championship match, where Priess prevailed.
She finished 3-0 in singles play. Fellow freshman
Amanda Alvarado also claimed a singles championship, winning
the consolation bracket. Both Santiago and Alvarado
finished 2-1 in singles. Sophomore Stephanie Reed went
1-1.
In double action, Alvarado and Priess teamed and advanced to
the championship final before settling for second place.
Junior Tina Philippi and freshman Samantha Morris finished
1-2 and were knocked out by Alvarado and Priess. |
