Schreiner WT Wins Second Straight ASC Match

The Schreiner Women's Tennis team won its second straight ASC match - and in the process - doubled the number of wins the program has had over the previous two seasons combined.  The latest win was an 8-1 count at Sul Ross State.

Leading the way for the Mountaineers (2-1 overall, 2-0 in ASC) was the newest player on the squad, junior Jill Perez.  Playing her first collegiate match after joining the team in midseason, Perez shutout her opponent at #6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.  She then teamed with freshman Alicia Wilbanks - also a second semester roster addition - for a 8-0 drubbing at #3 doubles.

Junior Stephanie Reed and Wilbanks were nearly as impressive in their respective singles matches, only giving up one game each.  Reed won 6-0, 6-1 at #3 singles while Wilbanks won by the same score at #5 singles.  Sophomore Katrina Priess was dominant at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
