Kester Named to Collegiate Baseball's 2007
"Players to Watch" List
Senior
centerfielder Jeremiah Kester was named to the
Collegiate Baseball "Players to Watch"
list as one of the nation's top Division III
baseball players. Collegiate Baseball is a
national magazine covering NCAA college baseball
across the country.
Recognition is not new to Kester, who has been
an ASC standout since arriving on campus.
In 2006, Kester led the conference in hitting
most of the year and finished third with a .415
batting average. For his efforts, he was
named first team All-American Southwest
Conference (West Division). In addition to
finishing third in batting, Kester led the ASC
in on base percentage (.512) and was ninth in
stolen bases. He led the Mountaineers in
hits (56), runs (32), walks (27) and stolen
bases (15) and was also one of the top fielding
outfielders in the league.
This season,
Kester will be one of five seniors (Kester,
Thomas Cable, Chase Kimball and Jordan Anders
and Rene Muniz) who will lead another young
Schreiner Baseball team into action. The
Mountaineers are looking to improve on a 2006
campaign where a freshman-dominated SU squad
started slowly (1-16) and finished 11-27
overall. |
