Chris Woodside joined the men’s basketball program as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach/Head JV Basketball Coach on August 8th 2016. Prior to this Chris coached Varsity High School boys basketball in Maine.
As head coach for the Calais Blue Devils the past two seasons Chris experienced the ultimate success. In his first year the 2014-2015 season the Blue Devils went 16-2 in the regular season and won their conference championship. They would go on to win the Eastern Maine Championship in Overtime and cap off a great season with a State Championship victory and a 20-2 overall record. It was the schools 4th boys basketball State Championship.
Prior to taking over the head coaching position Chris spent a season as Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV coach at Calais. He has also spent many years coaching at the youth and AAU level in Connecticut. Chris is currently involved with PGC Basketball and spent the summer traveling the nation instructing their basketball leadership immersion experiences.
Chris believes basketball is a tool to be used to develop lifelong leadership skills in his players. As a coach he knows the ball will eventually stop bouncing for all players and it is his job to ensure he has given them skills to help them be even more successful off the court.
