Coach Elrakabawy begins his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach. He will also serve as head coach for the Schreiner junior varsity team. Coach Elrakabawy comes to Schreiner after spending the previous season on the basketball staff at SCAC rival Southwestern University. While at Southwestern, Coach Elrakabawy assisted with a variety of program administration duties including opposition scouting, player development, and film analysis and breakdown on a team that reached the semi-finals of the SCAC Championship Tournament. Prior to Southwestern, Coach Elrakabawy served as an assistant coach with Division II St. Edward's University during the 2015-2016 season where he helped guide the Hilltoppers to an 18-12 overall record, a nationally ranking for the first time since 2008, and an appearance in the Heartland Conference tournament semifinal. Before that, Coach Elrakabawy served as an assistant coach at Division III Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in 2014-2015. While at Gallaudet, Coach Elrakabawy was assistant to NEAC coach of the year Brendan Stern and part of the staff that led the Bison to a all-time program best 18 wins, a 12 win improvement from the previous season, and a top 10 nationally ranked defense. 

Coach Elrakabawy began his coaching career at the high school level as part of the coaching staff at Texas School for the Deaf where he  served in various roles, including Varsity assistant and JV Head Coach for eight seasons.

A native of Alexandria Egypt, Coach Elrakabawy grew up in Houston, TX. He and his wife Erin have two sons: Noah and Raef.
