Philip Anderson was named head coach for Schreiner Cross Country in June of 2015. When you meet Coach Anderson, you quickly realize that he has a passion for running and working towards success. He ran for the Cy-Fair High School cross country team for four years and qualified UIL 5A Regionals two of those years. Initially, Coach Anderson began running as a way to build stamina for soccer in the off-season But by doing that, he learned to running and has continued to train ever since. Coach Anderson often runs 5k's for charity. He took the effort up a notch and completed his first marathon in Austin, 2013. He still puts in many miles weekly during his free time to stay in shape and for relaxation. You can often find Coach Anderson playing any sport that requires the skills of a long distance runner.
He has also been passionate about soccer and serves as SU Assistant Men's Soccer Coach this fall. Coach Anderson played for Schreiner Men's Soccer from 2008-2012 and earned all-conference awards in both his freshman (honorable mention All-ASC) and junior seasons (second-team All-ASC). He also served as team captain during his junior and senior years. He graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.
Coach Anderson married Schreiner alumnae Brittany (Cardwell) Anderson in June of 2014. She is a math teacher at Fredericksburg High School and they happily reside in Kerrville.
