Mountaineer Update

from Ron Macosko, Athletic Director
August 29, 2007

Welcome (Back) Schreiner Students, Faculty & Staff,

The 2007-08 sports year officially begins this weekend and there is a level of excitement and anticipation that hasn't been here in quite a while. Here's the weekend's schedule including HOME OPENERS for both the Women's Soccer and Volleyball teams this Friday:

Friday, Aug. 31st
WOMEN'S SOCCER vs. DALLAS (Mountaineer Field) at 2:00 pm
MEN'S SOCCER vs. Southern Nazarene (Tyler, TX) at 4:00 pm
VOLLEYBALL vs. OUR LADY OF THE LAKE (Edington Center) at 7:00 pm

Sunday, Sept. 2nd
MEN'S SOCCER vs. St. Thomas (Tyler, TX) at 3:00 pm

We encourage the entire Schreiner family to support our Mountaineers. The cost of attendance is FREE for Schreiner Students, Faculty and Staff. Your support of these outstanding young women and men means a lot to them.

Please also remember that Schreiner Athletics joins with the American Southwest Conference to support the NCAA's fan sportsmanship initiative. While cheering for the Mountaineers is GREATLY ENCOURAGED, we ask all of our great fans to refrain from any negative cheering against the opponent or its players, coaches and fans (even if they choose to cheer against us). Take the high road and show not only that we have the most fans, but also the best fans.

We don't want to infringe on anyone's fun in supporting the Mountaineers but Schreiner Athletics will enforce sportsmanship rules if necessary. Also a special note to soccer fans: the ASC requires that all fans be at least 20 feet from the playing field. In our case, that means that all fans must be on the track.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Here's to a successful and exciting 2007-08 sports year and GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
