Mountaineer Update

from Ron Macosko, Athletic Director
February 25, 2011

This will be an unusually quiet weekend for sports activities. Only the women's and men's tennis teams will be competing and they will be on the road today at Southwestern. The women's and men's golf teams start their spring season on Monday and Tuesday with the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Comanche Trace. A total of 16 teams will be competing over the two days.

Congratulations to Riley Battle, senior on the SU men's basketball team. Riley was named ASC West Player of the Week for the final week of the season. He averaged nearly 30 points in a pair of road wins to earn the honor. Also, congratulations again to the Schreiner SAAC for raising more than $2,800 in the Make Change in 14 Days contest. SU beat the other 14 schools in the conference for the first-time ever and all the proceeds will go to the Kerr County YMCA. Last year, SU raised $1,200 and finished third so Schreiner was also the most-improved school. Special thanks goes to SU SAAC vice president Tom Pappas and SU SAAC president Samantha Rawlinson as well as advisor Drew Miller.

Here's the schedule for the week ahead:
