Mountaineer Update
from Ron Macosko, Athletic Director
August 28, 2013

Welcome (Back) Schreiner Students, Faculty and Staff,

The new year, at least for Athletics, kicks into gear this weekend as our teams take the field for the first time in regular season contests. Throughout the year, I will send out notes that recap the sports news from the week prior as well as schedules for the week ahead so that you can stay up-to-date on our sports teams.  Many of our events are right here on campus, are free to the public, and our student-athletes would welcome and appreciate your support if you have time.  If you haven’t been to one of our sports events, I think you’ll be very impressed with the quality and effort our Schreiner Mountaineers put forth in representing our school.  We enter a new conference this fall and so there is a great deal of excitement surrounding our teams as we begin competition against fellow SCAC members Trinity University, Southwestern University, Austin College, University of Dallas, Texas Lutheran University, Centenary College and Colorado College.  These institutions are very strong academically and offer competitive NCAA Division III sports programs that mirror our goals and efforts to provide a great athletic experience while keeping the focus on academic success.  We invite you to come out and support our Mountaineers!

Here’s a schedule for the week ahead:

Friday, August 30th:
WOMEN’S SOCCER at McMurry (Abilene, TX) at 6:00 pm
VOLLEYBALL at Our Lady of the Lake (San Antonio, TX) at 6:00 pm
MEN’S SOCCER at Mary Hardin-Baylor (Belton, TX) at 6:30 pm

Saturday, August 31st:
MEN’S SOCCER (HOME OPENER) vs. LeTourneau (Soccer Practice Field) at 4:00 pm
