Mountaineer Update
from Ron Macosko, Athletic Director
January 14, 2015

Welcome back, Schreiner family, and happy new year.   We hope that you enjoyed your break.  It’s great to see that campus is active and full again.  It’s a very big weekend coming up with the grand opening of the Schreiner University Events Center and home conference basketball doubleheaders on both Friday AND Saturday.   Both basketball teams are off to strong starts in SCAC play and we now have five home games in the next eight days and need to protect our new house and have a great home court advantage.

Friday is the big day with all kinds of activities and events sponsored by the SU Spirit Team, Campus Rec and our Advancement Office.

This comes from Drew Dobbins, Director of Campus Rec:
Come out and meet the Mountaineer Spirit Team, and Monty from 2-5pm as Campus Rec and the Spirit Team Host our Tailgate party and Chili Cook-off, from 2-5pm in the MFC and Event Center lots! Both events will feature a chili cooking competition judged by local businesses and a people’s choice. The tailgate will also have REVFM radio, a 3 point contest, an XBOX tournament, DJ, life-size foo’s ball, face painter, and giveaways! The most spirited fans will receive two “Best Seats in the House” courtside at the women’s and men’s games. The most decorated and spirited tailgate spot will receive a Schreiner University “Most Spirited” trophy.

Also, our SAAC is sponsoring a spirit walk from the Schreiner Seal in the main quad at 4:30 pm which will go to the Events Center for the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 5:00 pm.  Free t-shirts to for those who attend and for the first 350 into the EC.

Here is a quick recap of recent action:
