Schreiner Goes 2-1 at
Conference Crossover
The women's volleyball team
took 2 out of 3 matches this
weekend at the first ASC
Crossover Tournament in
Dallas, TX this weekend.
The Mountaineers beat UT
Tyler and the University of
Mary Hardin-Baylor, and lost
to host UT Dallas.
The weekend started with a
3-0 victory over UT TYler.
The Mountaineers played a
strong offensive match,
hitting .325. Xandria
White and Tiffany Miller led
the team in kills, with 15
and 11 respectively.
Brittany Alvillar had 15
digs, and Malorie Westerholm
had 31 assists.
The evening match on Friday
was against host UT Dallas,
the 2nd ranked team in the
East Division. The
match started well for
Schreiner as they won the
first game, hitting .270.
But UTD rallied to win the
next three games.
Tiffany Miller had 14 kills
to lead the Mountaineer
offense, and Xandria White
had 10 kills and 6 blocks.
Malorie Westerholm had 31
assists, and Julie Peddy had
17 digs.
Saturday's match was against
Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Schreiner won the first game
30-28 before loosing the
next two. The
Mountaineers pulled out game
4 by the score of 31-29,
before finishing off the
Crusaders by a score of 15-9
in game 5. Tiffany
Miller set a school record
for kills in a match with
39. She made only 3
errors and had 72 total
attempts. Xandria
White had 18 kills and 9
blocks. Malorie
Westerholm had 69 assists,
and Brittany Alvillar had 32
digs, good for 3rd best in
school history. |
