Volleyball Splits First Two
Matches in ASC Crossover
Schreiner bounced back from
a first day loss to record a
3-1 win over LeTourneau in
ASC Crossover Tournament
action. The
Mountaineers still have one
match remaining later on
Saturday.
ETBU, the top rated team in
the Eastern Division of the
ASC, controlled the match
vs. SU and won in three
straight games, 30-26,
30-20, 30-23. Once
again, sophomore Tiffany
Miller was easily the top
offensive performer for
Schreiner, recording 15
kills to only six errors.
Only Marissa Stearns (4
kills, one error) was able
to record a positive hitting
percentage among SU's
hitters. Brittany
Alvillar was the
Mountaineers' defensive
stopper with 27 digs.
On Saturday morning,
Schreiner handily beat
LeTourneau in the first two
games of their match, 30-15
and 30-13. SU
had a letdown in game three
and allowed LeTourneau to
stay in the match.
Despite having a late lead,
Schreiner couldn't hold it
and dropped the game, 31-29.
The Mountaineers rebounded
with a 30-17 win in game
four.
Schreiner (9-11, 6-7 in ASC)
was led by junior Xandria
White with 18 kills while
Miller added 16 kills and
six total blocks.
Junior Malorie Westerholm
had 48 assists and Alvillar
contributed 32 digs.
